The Georgia Retailers Loss Prevention Council (GRLPC) is the leadership arm of the Georgia Retailers Organized Crime Alliance (GROC). GRLPC consists of a powerful group of loss prevention corporate and field leaders and law enforcement partners within Georgia Retailers membership that have helped shape state legislation, cultivated strong partnerships with Georgia’s law enforcement community, and have donated their time, efforts and event proceeds back to the communities most impacted by organized retail crime.

History

The GRLPC was formed in 2010 after the successful passage of the Georgia Smash and Grab Act. This legislation was developed, lobbied and enacted into law as a direct result of a GRA- formed coalition of retail loss prevention corporate and regional leaders.

Mission

The mission of the Georgia Retailers Loss Prevention Council (GRLPC) is to provide guidance to its membership and our law enforcement partners in the areas of education, professional networking, legislative initiatives and community outreach.

Council Members

GRLPC members’ loss prevention responsibilities vary within their respective companies. We have members that are senior/corporate leaders with national and global responsibilities. Other members are field and regional managers that have decision-making responsibilities within the state of Georgia.

About Us

Formation and Mission

The Georgia Retailers Loss Prevention Council (GRLPC) is the leadership arm of the Georgia Retailers Organized Crime Alliance (GROC). The council was established in 2010 after the passage of the Georgia Smash and Grab Act, aims to provide education, professional networking, legislative initiatives, and community outreach for its members and law enforcement partners. A key initiative was the creation of the Organized Retail Crime Alliance (ORCA) to combat Organized Retail Crime (ORC).

Establishment and Growth

GROC was originally established in 2012 as the Georgia Retail Association Organized Retail Crime Alliance (GRAORCA). In 2018, GRAORCA was renamed Georgia Retailers Organized Crime Alliance (GROC) to better align with our parent organization, Georgia Retailers- continuing its mission under a new name. Today, GROC consists of over 600 law enforcement and retail loss prevention professionals collaborating in real-time to form partnership and combat organized retail crime. One of the key features to our success is our intel-sharing platform used for real time reporting of organized theft, fraud, and other crimes across the state. Members can search and connect cases, upload photographs, and share crime bulletins. Monthly forums are held to enhance opportunities for networking, intelligence sharing, and training.

Achievements

Collaborative efforts have led to multiple multi-jurisdiction arrests and the dismantling of ORC groups.

Annual Conference and Community Impact

GROC hosts an annual conference in Atlanta, drawing 400-500 retail and law enforcement professionals for networking and training. Over $30,000 has been donated to nonprofits, and scholarships are provided in partnership with Kennesaw State University. Additional ORC trainings, "Road Shows" and blitz operations are conducted throughout Georgia.
