A True Crime-Fighting Partnership
The Georgia Retailers Organized Crime Alliance (GROC) is a statewide crime-fighting partnership. The GROC Alliance allows retailers, corporate security investigators and law enforcement agencies to communicate about criminal activity impacting business on a real-time basis, while preventing other partners from being victimized. The searchable website and its mapping capabilities are focused on providing a statewide real-time crime alert system. Through this collaborative partnership, law enforcement and the business community are able to identify offenders and resolve cases, all while developing new partnerships and innovative ways to combat Organized Retail Crime (ORC).

2019 GROC ORGANIZED RETAIL CRIME BLITZES

In December, the Georgia Retailers and the Georgia Retailers Organized Crime Alliance (GROC) conducted two Organized Retail Crime Blitzes in partnership with the City of Dunwoody and City of Alpharetta Police Departments. An article highlighting the Dunwoody portion can be found hereDuring these two operations, law enforcement and loss prevention professionals worked together to facilitate 33 arrests and recover over $14,000 worth of merchandise.

Joining us for these events were Rep. Martin Momtahan (R-Dallas), author of our present ORC bill in the House, and Mr. Nicolas Smith, Director of External Affairs & Policy for Attorney General Chris Carr. These gentlemen had the opportunity to experience ORC first-hand and learn more about the problems it poses for Georgia.

As you may be aware, we have facilitated four two-day ORC Blitz operations in the Atlanta area for 2019. A summary of results is below-these numbers are nothing short of staggering. The blitzes have been immensely successful thanks to the great work of Chad McManus, Dave Magersupp, and Jayson Nixon of GROC.

GROC will look to continue conducting ORC Blitzes in additional jurisdictions throughout 2020!
